Engineering Advantages

01 — PROCESS ADVANTAGE

Cold Cut vs. Abrasive Wheels

Abrasive wheels generate temperatures above 800°C, producing a heat-affected zone (HAZ) and heavy slag that must be ground off. Cold circular sawing operates at low RPM with coolant, keeping the cut face below 200°C. The result is a clean, weld-ready surface right off the machine.

02 — METALLURGY

M35 Cobalt for Stainless

Stainless steel (304/316) work-hardens under cutting pressure, instantly dulling standard M2 blades. Our M35 grade contains 5% Cobalt, granting it extreme ‘red hardness’ to slice through austenitic stainless steel without losing edge geometry.

03 — SURFACE TECH

TiN & TiAlN Coatings

While standard steam-treated blades are great for mild steel, upgrading to TiN (Titanium Nitride) or TiAlN PVD coatings drastically reduces friction and heat. This allows for faster feed rates and prevents material from cold-welding to the saw teeth.

Product FAQs & Buying Guidance

Technical FAQs

01How do I choose between M2 and M35 Cobalt HSS grades?
+

For standard structural steel, mild steel pipes, and box sections, M2 HSS provides excellent toughness and value. If you are cutting stainless steel (304, 316), high-tensile steel, or using high-speed automatic saws, you must upgrade to M35. M35 contains 5% Cobalt, which prevents the teeth from softening under high friction heat.

02How many teeth (TPI / Pitch) do I need for my steel pipes?
+

The golden rule of cold sawing is to always have 3 to 4 teeth simultaneously engaged in the material thickness. If you are cutting thin-walled tubes (e.g., 1.5 mm wall), you need a fine pitch (high tooth count, e.g., 220Z or 240Z) to prevent the teeth from hooking and snapping. If you are cutting thick solid bars (e.g., 40 mm solid), you need a coarse pitch (low tooth count, e.g., 120Z) to allow room for the massive metal chips to escape.

03Can HSS cold saw blades be resharpened?
+

Yes. This is the biggest advantage of HSS cold saw blades. Unlike abrasive discs that are thrown away, an HSS blade can be CNC-resharpened 10 to 15 times before the diameter becomes too small to use. We offer professional regrinding and recoating services to restore factory-new performance.

04Should I use coolant when cutting with HSS cold saws?
+

Absolutely. You must use a flood coolant (water-soluble synthetic or semi-synthetic oil, mixed at about 8–10%) directed right at the cutting teeth. Coolant flushes away the metal chips and keeps the blade cool. Cutting dry with an HSS blade will burn the teeth instantly. Only specialized TCT blades on high-end machines are designed for dry cutting.

Why Choose Sureay

01Will these blades fit my specific cold saw machine?
+

Our blades feature standard bore sizes (e.g., 32 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm) and universal drive pin hole patterns that fit 95% of the market, including Kaltenbach, Bewo, MEP, Macc, Pedrazzoli, and Kasto. If your machine has a non-standard drive pin layout, we can CNC-machine the exact mounting holes before shipping.

02What is the lead time for M35 Cobalt or TiAlN coated blades?
+

Standard M2 (Steam Treated) blades in common sizes are often in stock and ship within 3–5 days. Premium M35 Cobalt blades and customized PVD coatings (TiN, TiAlN) typically require 10–15 working days.
