Engineering Advantages

01 — HEAVY PLATE

D2 for Stainless & HSLA Plate

Premium D2 (Cr12MoV) deep-hardened to HRC 58–62. The high chromium-carbide matrix withstands the extreme abrasive wear and work-hardening forces encountered when shearing 304/316L stainless steel, HSLA plate, and pre-painted coil stock.

02 — SHOCK RESISTANCE

6CrW2Si for Medium-Heavy Plate

Shock-resisting 6CrW2Si alloy combines hard cutting edges (HRC 55–58) with massive core toughness. Engineered for 6–25 mm mild steel plate and mixed-material production where unexpected hard inclusions would chip a brittle blade.

03 — TOLERANCE

Precision Parallelism (±0.05 mm)

Every blade is surface-ground to ±0.05 mm full-length parallelism across lengths up to 4000 mm. This ensures a uniform shear gap between upper and lower blades, delivering burr-free cuts and preventing twist and bow in the sheared sheet.

Product FAQs & Buying Guidance

Technical FAQs

01Which steel grade should I choose for shearing 304 stainless steel on a hydraulic guillotine?
+

D2 (Cr12MoV) hardened to HRC 58–62 is the recommended grade for stainless steel (304, 316L) and high-strength plates like Hardox. D2's high chromium-carbide content withstands the severe work-hardening abrasion imposed by austenitic stainless. For standard mild steel, 9CrSi provides excellent edge life at a lower cost.

02Why do my guillotine shear blades chip when cutting mixed or heavier plate?
+

Chipping usually indicates the blade alloy is too hard and brittle for the shearing load. If you are cutting 10–25 mm mixed plate or occasionally encounter harder stock, switch from D2 to 6CrW2Si. This shock-resisting alloy provides a controlled lower hardness (HRC 55–58) with massive core toughness, absorbing impact loads elastically instead of chipping.

03What causes burrs and twist on the sheared edge, and how do guillotine shear blades solve this?
+

Burrs and twist are almost always caused by uneven blade-to-blade contact — when the shear gap varies from one end of the blade to the other. This concentrates shear force at one point, producing compressive rollover burrs and sheet distortion. Our blades are surface-ground to ±0.05 mm full-length parallelism, ensuring a uniform gap across the entire cut length for clean, burr-free shearing.

04How do 4-edge reversible guillotine shear blades reduce my annual tooling cost?
+

A 4-edge reversible blade provides four independent cutting faces from a single blade body. When edge 1 shows wear, loosen the mounting bolts, rotate the blade 90° to expose a fresh edge, and retorque. This multiplies the blade's installed lifespan by 4× before regrinding is required, drastically reducing per-cut tooling cost on high-volume shearing lines.

05What is the maximum single-piece blade length Sureay can manufacture?
+

We manufacture single-piece guillotine shear blades up to 4000 mm in length. For machines wider than 4000 mm, we produce precision segment blade sets — multiple blades indexed end-to-end with matched height tolerance (±0.02 mm) — to create a continuous, gap-free shear line across the full table width.

06How do I select the correct blade dimensions for my specific guillotine shearing machine?
+

Blade dimensions are determined by your machine's cutting capacity (maximum sheet thickness × table width). For example, a 6 × 3200 mm machine uses blades sized 1100 × 80 × 20 mm, supplied as a 6-piece segmented set. Send us your machine model number or a drawing of your existing blade, and we will confirm the exact dimensions, bolt pattern, and recommended steel grade.

Why Choose Sureay

01Can you manufacture replacement blades to match my TRUMPF, AMADA, LVD, or Durma guillotine exactly?
+

Yes. We carry OEM-matching dimensions and bolt patterns for TRUMPF, AMADA, Bystronic, LVD, Durma, Haco, Cincinnati, and Adira shearing machines. Supply your machine model number or a worn blade sample and we will confirm fitment. Custom lengths are manufactured to drawing within 15 working days.

02Do you supply both upper and lower guillotine shear blade sets?
+

Yes. Every standard order includes matched upper (ram) and lower (bed) blade sets, ground from the same steel batch to ensure identical hardness, grain structure, and thermal expansion behavior across the pair. Mounting holes are drilled to your exact OEM bolt pattern.

03Can Sureay manufacture replacement blades for older or discontinued shearing machines?
+

Yes. For discontinued or rare guillotine models, we work from customer-supplied drawings or physical blade samples. A dimensional survey template is available on request for accurate measurement of the blade profile, edge angles, and counter-sunk mounting holes. We have successfully produced replacements for machines dating back to the 1980s.

04What quality documentation ships with each blade set?
+

Every shipment includes a Rockwell HRC hardness test report, a dimensional inspection record verifying full-length parallelism, and a heat treatment batch certificate. For OEM qualification programs, full CMM reports and steel mill material certificates are available on request.

05What is the typical lead time for standard guillotine shear blades?
+

Standard sizes (listed in our dimension table) ship within 7–10 working days. Custom sizes, special alloy grades, or high-volume orders typically require 15–20 working days. We offer expedited production on request for urgent machine-down situations.
