M2 HSS is the correct choice for coated art paper, bond paper, and standard label stock in high-volume print shops — delivering 4–6× longer life than standard carbon steel. Upgrade to TCT (YG15/YG20 carbide inlay) only when cutting carbonless copy paper, high-calcium-carbonate packaging board, or abrasive specialty papers. TCT outperforms HSS 3–5× on these substrates but carries a higher unit cost.

02How does your blade geometry prevent dust when guillotining thick paper reams?

We grind every guillotine blade to a precision 21° bevel with face flatness ≤0.05mm across the full length. The sharp, shallow bevel shears each sheet progressively through the ream rather than crushing through the stack — dust is generated by dull or incorrectly bevelled edges that compress paper fibres instead of shearing them. HSS M2 and TCT grades retain this precision bevel geometry significantly longer than carbon steel, so fewer resharpening events mean fewer dust-generating dull-blade cutting cycles per year.

03Can you supply blades in the exact length and mounting hole pattern my Polar or Wohlenberg machine requires?

04How should guillotine blades be stored and handled to prevent premature edge damage before installation?

Store blades horizontally in original packaging on padded wooden cradles — never stack vertically or allow metal-to-metal contact on the cutting edge. Use plastic or rubber edge guards during handling. Inspect under a 10× loupe before mounting: a 0.2mm edge nick doubles local wear rate within the first 10,000 cuts. Avoid dragging the edge against guide rails during installation.

05Can you supply paper guillotine blades in semi-finished condition for in-house regrinding?

Yes. Semi-finished blanks are available in all standard lengths with the body ground to final dimensions but the edge left in pre-ground condition for final dressing to your specific bevel angle and finish. This supply state suits print shops with surface grinding capability, reduces unit cost by 15–20%, and gives full control over final edge geometry and sharpness.
