Engineering Advantages
OEM-Profile Groove Geometry
The groove width and depth of each anvil knife is profile-ground to your OEM platform specification — Tidland single-groove, Kampf double-groove, or Goebel wide-body — and held to ±0.01 mm. Correct groove geometry restores factory-designed shear clearance and eliminates the progressive slit-edge deterioration caused by a worn anvil profile.
H6 Bore & Lapped Face Flatness
All anvil bores are finish-ground to H6 tolerance and face-lapped to ≤0.003 mm parallelism. A bore deviation of 0.02 mm on the lower arbor induces blade wobble that translates directly to slit-width variation across a multi-knife stack. Our bore and face tolerances are verified on a CMM for every batch.
Anti-Adhesion Groove Coatings
For pressure-sensitive tape and adhesive laminate slitting, Teflon and DLC PVD coatings on the groove contact face reduce adhesive build-up intervals by 60–80%. Coated anvils run clean through 8–12 hour production shifts without groove contamination that degrades shear clearance and forces unplanned stops.

Product FAQs & Buying Guidance
Technical FAQs
01How often should I replace the bottom grooved anvil knife versus the top blade?+−
Bottom anvil knives operate under compressive groove-face loading and typically last 3–5× longer than the top shear blade. However, because wear is gradual — the groove face rounds off slowly — the deterioration in slit quality is easy to miss until scrap rates climb. We recommend inspecting groove face geometry (groove width and depth) every 3 top-blade replacement cycles and replacing the anvil when groove width deviation exceeds ±0.03 mm from the OEM specification.
02What shear clearance should I set between the top blade and bottom anvil groove?+−
Shear clearance is substrate-dependent. For flexible plastic films (BOPP, BOPET, CPP) at 0.02–0.05 mm per side is standard. For kraft paper and board, 0.05–0.10 mm. For aluminium and copper foils, 0.01–0.03 mm per side. We pre-verify matched top/bottom pairs to your specified clearance and record the setting on an engineering data sheet that ships with each order, allowing operators to replicate the clearance on every reinstallation.
03Can I order replacement anvil knives without buying a full matched pair?+−
Yes. We supply bottom anvil knives as standalone replacements machined to the groove profile and OD/ID of your existing top-knife arbor system. Provide your OEM platform (Tidland, Kampf, Atlas, etc.) and the top knife OD/ID, and we will match the anvil to the mating geometry. If you supply a worn anvil as a sample, we can reverse-engineer the original groove profile before regrinding.
04Why does my slit edge quality degrade even after I replace the top blade with a new one?+−
If new top blades do not restore slit quality, the anvil groove is almost certainly worn beyond its specification. A rounded or widened groove face increases effective shear clearance regardless of top-blade condition, producing a ragged, feathered slit edge. Inspect the groove width and depth with a groove gauge or profilometer. If groove deviation exceeds ±0.03 mm from OEM spec, anvil replacement or regrinding is required.
Why Choose Sureay
01Do you supply bottom anvil knives as part of a matched pair, or only individually?+−
Both options are available. For new installations or full arbor rebuilds, we recommend matched pairs — top blade and bottom anvil verified to a specified shear clearance, with a joint engineering data sheet. For replacement orders on existing lines, standalone anvil knives machined to your OEM groove profile are available with standard 5–7 day lead time.
02What OEM platforms does Sureay supply matched anvil knives for?+−
We currently stock and supply groove-profiled anvil knives for Tidland (single-groove and double-groove arbors), Kampf (narrow and wide arbor series), Atlas Converting Equipment, Goebel, BHS, Agnati, and Dusenbery. For other OEM platforms, provide the arbor drawing or worn sample and we will engineer a matched replacement.
03Do you ship globally and how long does it take?+−
Yes, we export to over 50 countries. Standard OEM-profile anvil knives ship within 48–72 hours. Custom groove profiles take 7–12 working days. We partner with DHL, FedEx, and international sea freight forwarders for reliable door-to-door delivery.
