Engineering Advantages
Zero-Distortion Straightness
Press-quenched and precision-ground to eliminate bowing. A perfectly straight bed knife guarantees a uniform shear gap, preventing material from slipping through uncut.
Through-Hardened Core
Vacuum heat-treated to ensure consistent hardness (HRC 56–60) deep into the core. You can regrind the bevel multiple times without performance loss.
Precision Adjustment Slots
CNC-milled mounting slots allow technicians to easily advance the bed knife toward the rotor to compensate for wear, maintaining peak shredding efficiency.

Product FAQs & Buying Guidance
Technical FAQs
01Why is the straightness tolerance of a bed knife so important?+−
If a bed knife is warped by even 0.5mm, the clearance between the rotor inserts and the bed knife becomes inconsistent. Where the gap is too tight, the rotor knives will strike the bed knife, causing catastrophic damage. Where the gap is too wide, material will fold and wrap around the rotor instead of being sheared. Our ≤ 0.05mm/m straightness tolerance prevents both issues.
02How many times can a Sureay bed knife be reground?+−
Because we through-harden our bed knives (ensuring the core is as hard as the surface), they can be reground repeatedly until the dimensional limit of the machine's adjustment mechanism is reached. Typically, a heavy-duty D2 bed knife can undergo 5 to 10 regrind cycles depending on the depth of wear.
03How do I ensure the replacement bed knife aligns with my machine's adjustment pushers?+−
Bed knives utilize slotted holes or specific counter-bore patterns to integrate with the shredder's rear adjustment bolts (pushers). We maintain a vast database of OEM drawings for brands like Weima, Vecoplan, and Lindner. Supplying us with your machine model or a basic drawing ensures the slots are milled to the exact OEM coordinates.
04Should I replace the bed knife when I replace the rotor inserts?+−
Not necessarily every time. Rotor inserts wear out much faster. However, if the bed knife's cutting edge is severely rounded or chipped, placing new rotor inserts against a dull bed knife will drastically reduce the lifespan of the new inserts and decrease throughput. We recommend inspecting the bed knife edge during every rotor indexing cycle and regrinding or replacing it when a sharp edge can no longer be maintained.
Why Choose Sureay
01Do you have the manufacturing capacity for blades over 2 meters long?+−
Yes. Our facility is equipped with heavy-duty surface grinders and extended vacuum heat treatment furnaces capable of processing seamless, single-piece bed knives up to 3,500mm in length without inducing thermal distortion.
02Are you a trading company or a direct manufacturer?+−
We are a direct OEM manufacturer. This allows us to strictly control the heat treatment and grinding processes critical for long stator knives, eliminating the quality inconsistencies common with trading companies.
03What is the lead time for custom bed knives?+−
For standard OEM replacements, we often ship within 3–5 days. For custom lengths or specific alloy requirements, production lead time is typically 15–20 working days, inclusive of the deep thermal cycling processes required for dimensional stability.
